Here We Go

My name is E.K. Hornbeck. I write newspaper columns for the Baltimore Herald and I have been assigned to cover Cate's trial. I am a supporter of the evolutionary theory. Some people may view me as a cynical person. I often tend to speak in the format of a poet. At the picnic, I made sure to let everyone know that Henry Drummond was going to be Cate's attorney. Like Drummond, I stand beside Cates. I don't understand why everyone sees him as the Devil. I am very talkative and tend to get into other peoples business but that is my job as a newspaper reporter. I find humor in topics such as evolution and religion. I believe that there are no "trees of knowledge" to be found in Hillsboro but there are many "ignorant bushes". I do hateful things, for which people love me and lovable things, for which people hate me. I am a friend of enemies and the enemies of friends.
